A project manager is responsible for the successful planning, execution and completion of a project. Competencies of a project manager include strong organizational and communication skills, the ability to prioritize tasks, technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage resources and teams of people. They must be able to effectively manage risk and identify potential problems before they arise. Additionally, a project manager must be able to effectively delegate tasks, monitor progress and make necessary adjustments to ensure the project is completed on time and under budget. Lastly, a project manager must have the capacity to understand the scope of the project and anticipate changes in order to ensure the project is successful.
