Referencing websites
As a rule, you should avoid using text from other websites. In particular, do not use sites that provide content that is of questionable or unverified quality. If there is a book or article on the website, you should add citation/references as for a journal article. However, if there is no other option (and the teacher accepts it) then it is possible.
Entry in the References section:
- if the author is known, you should start with "Surname I.,"
- if the release year is known, add it. If not, enter current year, i.e. "(2015),"
- page title in italics with link (if the specific page has a title): '' [http: // ... Page title] '',
- name of the website, e.g. "University of California"
Do not link to the main page, unless the article is directly related to an institution.
Referencing in the text:
- if the author is known: (Surname YEAR)
- if not, then (Title fragment... YEAR)
Websites to avoid
- for technical reasons, links to amazonaws.com work only on one computer - find another source of pdf document
- some websites may publish content with questionable copyrights, only content from legal sources should be used
- some websites do not verify sufficiently published content, eg: study.com, slideshare.net, investopedia.com, - you should not link or use text from these sites
The above list of pages is not complete. The teacher will pay attention to any suspicious urls.
References using REF
You should not use wiki referencing using: <ref> function.
